Two formerly incarcerated individuals – Stacey Borden and James Marshall – speak about their experience after incarceration and the support needed to start a new beginning.


Stacey Borden is the Founder and Executive Director of New Beginnings Reentry Services, Inc. a Roxbury based non-profit that works to empower incarcerated and formerly incarcerated women. She has a Master’s Degree in mental health counseling and is an author, performance artist, motivational speaker and activist.

James Marshall, formerly incarcerated, has his associates degree in business and is working on completing a BS in Human Services. He has a long history teaching with FCD Prevention Works, providing school-based substance abuse prevention services. James is now caretaker for two of his siblings and is a loving father and grandfather.
